(Part 2 )
Odie and Kupo walked past the eery windowed houses filled with absolutely no one, the shadow realm was truly one for those who were afraid of the dark. The entire place seemed like it had been abandoned for years despite it being filled with life in the normal realm of erinn.
Kupo walked in front of Odie, having learned the place particularly better then her. Odie kept her grip tightened around the hilt of her blade, scanning the houses as they passed each one "I still don't know why they had to call you right back in, shouldn't you be given a few days time for resting?" Odie couldn't help but ask this.
"yeah" Kupo replied "If they wanted this place to fall to them, its already under attack as we speak on several of the gates, we are here to fight on two of them... sorry to say this but you'll be on your own." Kupo finished looking at Odiellia's saddened face "Don't you worry, Im certain you can handle it, just be careful. And do as I taught you whenever you consider using magic."
Odiellia obeyingly took the road to the left of their original path and Kupo took the right. Odie looked onto the road seeing nothing coming towards her and the royal guards standing by her, the human, a man named Rio spoke up "This is brutal, brutally boring. There is not a single thing to figh-". He gets cut off as several shadow warriors suddenly appear from sudden black warps all around them, surrounding them.
Odie took a good hard swing and cut throw the weak armor of one, then two, then three shadow warriors before they had time to fight back. Dodging one swing of an enemy blade was followed up by bringing the blade up into the monsters chin, sending it flying to the ground, the remaining few archers were taken down by the guard, who satisfyingly brought them down with little issues.
This continued on for around 20 more minutes, a wave appearing from nowhere, always surrounding them, no predicatable pattern of placement in the warps, several shadow alchemists even found themselves having to fight against Odie and her heavy two handed blade
Odie panted as she found her way back to the fork in the road, their job finally done, and Shadow Tailteann stayed defended from the shadow warriors armies once again. Kupo stood there waiting, toying and playing with a bolt orb of lightning, was it zipped around her hands she would toy with it, studying it. It was redundant however, as Kupo was a scholar in magic, rivaling that of even the great Tarlach, whom no one had seen since the most recent events taking place in the land of Iria.
"took you long enough, were you using magic?" Kupo asked in her quiet elven voice, her hood of course hiding her jet black hair from anyone else besides Odie, as she was the only one who would accept the oddity of an elf. "hardly, there was just so many, and it was only a matter of time before their fear for my blade ran out, they got bold in attacks, I nearly took a slash to the neck." Odie explained sitting on the ground
"tsk tsk, you'll never learn to handle magic against enemies if you refuse to use it at all in combat" Kupo said "but, thats not to say that you shouldn't be careful... someone like you will be drained of energy quickly if you use certain attacks and more often then not." Odie interrupted the possible lecture and rant about to take place by approaching Kupo and hugging her once again "It really would be great for you to come back if not for that mouth of yours" Odie said giggling.
As they returned once again from the shadow realm the royal guard high fived them and tossed in personal coin as something extra for the " epic offensive defense against those brutes" one soldier particularly pointed out. They continued on to collect actual payment, and finally found themselves on the road, as Odie still had her latest new goods to trade
Odie and Kupo chatted, mostly about recent events, Kupo and her time in the shadow realm, searching in secret for something that would help the efforts of blacksmiths in all of uladh strengthen their works for the troops, and possibly a secret magic hidden in the shadow realm. Odie spoke of what had happened between her and her old guildmates, she choked back a little at the mention of certain names and emotions, but slowly brightened back up as she happily spoke of her new guild, and funnest new things happening.
"sounds great to me Odie, you dont need them, and you seem much happier now" Kupo said, allowing Odie to smile at her friend. The bandits took this as their chance and they immediately blocked up the road and the back wheel of the vehicle became trapped in the previously ladden trap, causing Odiellia and her friend to become surrounded by armed bandits, and these ones did not seem to be playing around
"Give us your goods and /maybe/ your lives will be spared" one of them yelled behind a masked face, they charge the two traveling friends who reacted perfectly and accordingly, Odie slashed at the closest bandit, cutting deep into his side and nearly sliding him in half, his scream echoing throughout/
Kupo however truly displayed her power to the bandits as she quickly and successfully casted bolt upon bolt of white-hot lightning into the uncoming and foolish enemies, they were met by these flashes of painful deadly bolts quickly and with no way of escape, Odie finished them off, using Kupo's shoulder to flip herself in a protective stance in front of her friend "you idiot I have this under control!"
Odie turned her blade towards the ground and yelled in physical pain as she sent a shockwave throughout the remaining bandits who screamed as they fried and died off nearly instantaneously. Odie having drained her strength into the powerful move took a harder grip of her blade and pulled herself up, wiping the sweat from her brow, Kupo helped her up onto the cart, and they proceeded to enter the town of Dunbarton.
"you know that was stupid what you did, they were in no position to danger me or you, I could have handled them." Kupo scolded her as she took the payment of ducats and pocketed them. "Im sorry, it was a force of habit, lately I've been doing more and more in protecting others..." Odie pleaded her case, Kupo retorted quickly and in her quiet elven voice "If it is something as little as a group of bandits i suggest you save your strength, you know you cannot yet handle magic, especially not as well as I."
"all in all, our successes today has brought fear to the enemies of the humans, the elves, and even the great giants of Physis!" Odie cheered as they walked into town square, colorful characters beginning to appear and musicians played their musics in the street, mages performing colorful street acts for coin and entertainment of millitians, elves and humans alike. the occasional giant even dancing to a popular song being played on a lute.
" I am glad our efforts and many others are here to keep this safe" Kupo sighed feeling better, Odie was barely paying attention, digging into a kabob of meat and waving to a friend in the distance. Her mood obviously brightened, Kupo decided not to bug her this time, as they walked over towards the personal shops, and began their window shopping as the sun slowly began to lower itself..
