"You know why people have eyes in the front? Because they have to move forward to see the landscape in the distance. If you had eyes in back all you could see is your home town getting farther away; you can't move forward like that. If your eyes are in front, what you see in the distance keeps getting closer. That's what lets people move forward." - Kamina
Basic Info
Okay, First Thing I Should Note Is That Apparently A Few Different Studios Seem To Have Developed Several Different Dubbed Versions Of This, So You're On Your Own There. Also, DEFINITELY Watch This Series In HD if Possible! There Are So Many Little Frame By Frame Details That Make The Animation Top Notch That Is Easily Blurred In On Standard Definition.
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann Is An Anime That Starts Underground And Spans The Multiverse. The Story Follows Young Simon The Digger As He Finally Makes His Way Out Of His Oppressive Underground Village In Search Of The Sky Above, Alongside His Fearless, Cocky, And Altogether Brave "Big Bro" Kamina. When He Finally Reaches The Surface, He Finds That It Is Ruled By The Evil Race Known As The "Beastmen", Piloting Their Giant Robots Called "Gunmen", In Order To Suppress And Keep The Human Race Under Their Thumb. Along Their Travels They Meet A Group Of Resistance Fighters Living On The Surface, And With Assistance From The Energy Rifle Wielding Redhead (Probably The Biggest Tits I've Ever Seen On A 14 Year Old EVER) Surface Girl Yoko, Begin To Hijack And Pilot Gunmen Of Their Own. Their Trump Card? When Simon Pilots The Lagann, A Miniature Gunman Found Deep Underground, And Kamina Pilots The Gurren, One They Stole From The Beastmen, They Can Combine To Create The GigaDrill Wielding Gurren Lagann! Each Gunman Is Also Powered By "Spiral Energy" Which Flows From The Pilots In The Form Of Fighting Spirit. Follow Team Gurren As They Travel On Their Quest To Overthrow The Beastmen And Take Back Their Lives!
And Now For My Own Comments
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann Is Arguably The Most Pure Form Of The Word "Epic" I Can Find In An Anime So Far, On Par With DBZ In My Eyes. The Humor Is Funny, The Fanservice Plenty, And The Action Is Great. There Are Some Moments Where Some Of The Basic Story Wont Sink In Very Well With The Viewer If Your Not Used To Such Plot Twists, However If You Are Accustomed To Twisting Storylines And Expandable Realities, You Will Be In For Quite A Ride in Season 2. Within The First Season Alone Are So Many Memorable Moments And Great Fights, That I Would Consider This To Be A Great Series, But Season 2 Expands On This And Completes The Story. I Can't Say that I Enjoyed One Season Over The Other Since They Both Were Great, But Watching Season 2 Without Watching Season 1 Is Still Doable, Though I Would HIGHLY Advise Against It Just Out Of Principal. I Have No Comments Myself About The Quality Of the Manga Nor The Subbed Version Of This Series Since I Haven't Seen Either One, But The Dub Is Still Pretty Well Put Together. I Grade This Anime With A Perfect Score Of 10/10 Myself. Yes, I Think This Is Accurate In My Personal Opinion, No I Don't Care If You Disagree. Don't Like It?
