Weather you have 2 alternate characters or 20... there are things you should know to help you get the most out of them!
...and if you have none this may prompt you to create one or two!
"Alts" can become the "workforce" behind your "main"! They are linked to your account through the bank as well as pets... so why not take full advantage of that?
1. They can be used to collect Adventure seals!
Adventure seals can be traded through the bank... so... any seal quests they can do, can be added seals for your main simply by dropping them in the bank and collecting them by the main!
2. They can help gather supply's!
Some adventure seal quests garner things like ore, Magic craft ingredients, wood, herbs... GOLD! ...all of which can be placed in a pet and then recovered by your main!
3. They can all share tools and help grow proficiency!
Placing an inventory of digging and harvesting tools on a pet can not only boost proficiency, it can also alleviate inventory space on your main as well as all "alts"! (tools I find needed throughout the cast are: Axe (either gathering or wood chopping), Hoe, Cycle, Pick Axe, L-rod and Hilwan mining drill! ...as these are the general gathering dailys you get for everyone in your account.)
everything above can be done even as a solo player with ZERO friends!
NOW, as a guildmember... there is more to take advantage of!
Homesteads...
One of the first things I tried to do when I created my alts was add them to my mains "friends list". Why did I want to do this you may ask? Do I want to send myself notes? Build an enormous list of no one and feel "special"? NO.. I wanted to see if I could roam the "alts" homesteads.. and potentially use their created things! Sadly the system simply would not allow me to add my "alt" to my list.. and without a name visible I could not enter that homestead... But my brain didn't just accept this.. I wondered... "hmm, what if they were in my guild?.. even "offline" a member is visible and their homestead is accessible. Would this work with my own "alts" and bypass this small pitfall?" So I got my alts guilded and tested the theory... and low and behold.. there I was.. standing in my first "alts' homestead! (now.. there was nothing to mess with.. they were all just created.. but.. I was in and that was all I needed! ...and side note... I made sure to click that top button to "remember" this homestead! It makes it easier to find on your homestead map rather than fumbling through the guild list every time you want to enter. Also it retains the access should you leave the guild or have an alt you don't want associated with your main visibly, simply join the guild.. aquire the homestead access.. and depart. and poof! you are free to roam as an anonymous soul once more!)
So what does this access mean?
1. You can spread out herbs throughout several homesteads and never be shy your needed amount as well as not be forced to have a homestead with herbs instead of grass! Simply open every herb to "usable by anyone" and you have full command over the entire cast and their herbs!
2. You can separate homesteads into groups... one for blacksmithing items... one for cooking... etc... etc... not every homestead needs to be very high in level.. alot of the general tools can be created by level 5. Your mains homestead can house the cooking stove... and perhaps the upgrade anvil... unless you have the time and energy to grow more than one to its top level!
3. "alt" homesteads can produce items for you main homestead!!! This is more in depth to discuss...
First... if you simply take 5 minutes out of your day per alt... and punch the closest pole for 5 nails... then run down to Port Cobh to do the running boys daily... he gives you not only an adventure seal but two homestead stones! Complete that quest and then send every "alt" to their homesteads for ten whacks at the mine pile and you acrew 12 stones a day! You can simply log off and go back to your normal routine.. and after a week or so.. you have a second homestead with 80 stones just doing nothing! Your main homestead has probably one stone.. as you have been burning through them planting strawberrys to level it up... and may be "light" on pretty affectations.. flowers.. trees.. You probably have a "vision" on how it will look someday but only at level 10 and not even half way to 11.. that day isn't exactly rushing to you at a blinding pace! Now... doing the above.. you suddenly have a spare 80 stones just begging to be used... so use them! Your "alt" can build a tree.. and even earn the Kon from the completed item.. then simply remove the item and it becomes a kit in your "alts" inventory! It is placeable on a pet.. so... all you have to do is pack that pet and log over to your main! The item will not cost stones for the main.. only gold.. and items like trees and flowers.. are very low cost... this gives you the freedom to decorate your main homestead without sacrificing advancing it and will get you where you "see" it down the line.. NOW!
How does this all play out in real time?
I have one "main" and 5 "alts" (6 actually but I just created my first elf assistant from allying and haven't really done anything but name him.) I didn't even open my mains homestead untill probably December of last year! ...and all "alt" homesteads are no older than 3 months. For the most part all I did was mine stones and go back to seal collecting. I worked my main homestead with minimal extras.. mainly just planting stuff and raising levels (I didn't even upgrade from a tent!) I placed herbs in the main and then slowly migrated some over to two of my "alt" homesteads as initial testing. The test seemed to work well.. I could harvest from the other homesteads.. and it cleared up my mains clutter. I also managed to grow two other homesteads to level 8! The rest are only level 5 but they all currently have 500 stones unspent just waiting for me to do something with them! So I started making trees and flowers and shipping them to my main for planting! Which frees up my main to build only high level items or plant food... (theoretically... I could remove my two crop farms.. and literally make 1000 flowers on two "alt" homesteads... ship them over and fill every square with them.. and every day my homestead would generate 1000+Kon off those items! and I could simply wait a month or two and be maxed out on the homesteads level!.. and if I chipped away every day on my stones Id have a HUGE stockpile to build with when everything was unlocked!)
Essentially what I stumbled on is kind of a "loophole"... a way to fluidly work your many characters into a unified group. The only pitfall I have encountered is logging in and out and in and out eventually will crash you... so I have found that doing as much on every "alt" as you can before logging the next is better than back and forth crazyness to keep you in the game! (its not an exact science.. I sometimes forget to drop the pick axe back on the pet and find it missing when my next "alt" needs it.. and then... woosh!.. a mad logging dash back to that previous "alt" for tool return! Also in building my latest tree and flower gardens.. I was creating trees.. then logging to plant them.. then logging back to create more trees and some flowers.. then again.. log mania... more trees.. more flowers... I didn't crash... but it could happen so be warned!)
so in conclusion... if you have spinning free cards still in your opening selection stage.. create them into someone! If you used them all on mid week rebirths... go befriend the elfs and giants and get two more and start the workforce! (I had my current character for well over 3 or 4 years and just now allied with the elves! ...so if you are worried you missed that chance... you didn't.. its a predetermined set of events brought on by simply talking to the chief and using the keyword "elves and giants") Have them join the guild... go remember their homesteads... open them to anyone (you have to do this on each individual item that can be interacted with... EXCEPT homestead stone mine! ..that is owner exclusive in case you worry anyone will harvest YOUR STONES!) and start actually enjoying your homestead not just seeing that phrase after knocking out your measly 10 stone limit for the day at the mine pile!
I hope this info helps... or at least frees up clutter on your main homestead... and perhaps even drops a few extra adventure seals into your pocket! ..and a few resources to help rank up production skills! I know it helps me do all of that and more! Come visit my homestead and take a peek... say hi.. maybe even challenge me to some rock-paper-scissors! There is plenty of room... I have my mana herbs on number two.. blood herbs on black robe... blacksmithing at number 3's and fat guy will be my cook center down the line... so my mains.. is a very tidy place... with trees and flowers.. a well... some decorations and star formations... and a guardian phoenix by the houses front door! ...just don't pick my herbs without asking! You are free to use the well all you want... waters free! (hmm? did I even set that to "anyone can use"? ...I honestly don't think I did? My "alts" never need water! I mix all the paint... hahahahah)
...and if you have none this may prompt you to create one or two!
