I used to listen to these with links to some of my favourites
2003-2006 Mainstream American Rock Story of the Year, Linkin Park, Papa Roach, System of a Down
2006-2009 DJ Simulation Game Beatmania IIDX Series (10th Style, RED, DistorteD), DJMAX Series (Portable 2)
2009-2011 Various Genres Obsidian Shell, Avenged Sevenfold, Anberlin, Bullet for My Valentine, Clubringer, Alphastates, Natalia Kills, Royce Da 5'9
2011-Present Doujin Touhou Arrange CROW'SCLAW, Kisida Kyoudan, Alstroemeria Records, Syrufit, Pizuya's Cell
I found that I can't really stand most American Pop music and detest it with a passion because of auto-tune spam.
Not to say I hate every song with Auto-Tune but that the fact that there is so many songs with auto-tune (don't even get me started with a certain day of the week that starts with an F, because I honestly feel really bad how many people badmouth the singer like omg, it wasn't her fault.. poor girl..), they're hiding talent and generally convincing the public that that's how they really sound like. It's the basis of why I converted to Touhouism because I miss hearing a voice that is pure... and.. I kinda like to be serenaded..
Even though sometimes I cannot understand the music I am listening to, I like to feel it. I think I might be a slight audiophile--I enjoy feeling the singer's emotions.
In case you were wondering, the guild name did spawn from Alstroemeria Records and my love for their music.
Conveniently, the symbolism of the Alstroemeria flower matches my ideals of the community I wanted to create.
But I do wonder what kind of music you guise listen to, I've heard the same melodies over and over again and I'd like to try something new.

One of my biggest loves in the world is music. I can't live a single day without music. I once lost a bet with someone and she told me to not listen to any music for three days... I wonder who revived me afterwards... can't remember. My iTunes contains a wide range of music genres actually, but it really depends on my mood what I'd like to listen to... Though I think it's the same with everyone. I know most of the artist/songs don't really belong under the category it's written under, but otherwise this list would get too long and I'm bad in categorizing. KPopCNBLUE, SISTAR, BEAST, Trouble Maker, Henry, etcI love Kpop *very silent fangirl squeal* I don't know why, but I just love it. You could call me a huge fan, and yet you can't. I can brag and nag about my idols and I have peace with people who don't like Kpop, unlike most of the diehard kpop fans... KBalladKim Jong Kook, K.will, Lee Seung Gi, Gummy, Super Junior, etcWell, I love slow songs...Instrumental / Classical / OST#1 / #2 / #3 / #4 / #5 I've got an incredible strong love for instrumental music 4 of my top 5 most listened on iTunes are instrumental, having my number one on a play count of 2307 times. I love piano and violin the most (can't wait til mabi gets violin !). How I find my instrumental pieces... well, anime OSTs, visual novels, dramas, random youtubing...? There are some people I follow though, for example Crystal Strings and Kajiura Yuki.
I have a terrible sad addiction to sad songs... and it's bad, because I listen to them even in bad times and I cry easily.
Electronic #1 / #2 / #3 @ Ruiha I like some of songs of Touhou too~ but I just don't know many Touhou songs... And Alstroemeria Records is awesome! Although I have just one album... (EXSERENS)
Vocaloid / Nico Nico Douga #1 / #2 / #3 / #4 / #5 I tend to listen to covers by utaites more than the original with vocaloids...
Others JPop, CPop, Trading Yesterday, YouTubers Of course I like more than just this, but I don't know where to place it without making this too long. I listen to some Jpop as well, mostly from anime (or artists who have done some themes for anime) or AMVs. I listen to some CPop, like Jay Chou and Jason Zhang. Bruno Mars, One Direction, Maroon 5, Taylor Swift, Big Time Rush, Victoria Justice, The Script ... yes, yes that kind of stuff too. Oh and I love Trading Yesterday <3; it's a shame barely anyone knows them... And there's my love for some Youtube Singers like Against The Current, Jason Chen and Kurt Hugo Schneider.
And there's a whole lot more...... but I'll just shut up now (^-^")
Well.. okay, it has gotten very long after all >///< I get way too fanatic when it comes to music... Anyway, if you ever find an awesome song that you just have to share, note me first I love getting to know new music, although I might be really picky when it comes down to it...

I know it's been a long time since this thread died, but... These are my preferred genres of music: Metal Avenged Sevenfold, Five Finger Death Punch, Seether, Metallica, Pantera, Apocalyptica, Wintersun, Alice in Chains, Breaking Benjamin, Disturbed, Halestorm, Ozzy Osbourne, Rob Zombie, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus (a band from my hometown), etc. (I could go on for longer probably) Funk/Fusion Weather Report, Jaco Pastorius, Commodores, The Steve Miller Band, War Being a bass player, I like to listen to the bass lines/general rhythm of the music. Classic Rock (70's/80's) Guns & Roses, Lynyrd Skynyrd (another band from my hometown), Led Zeppelin, Kansas, Queen, Heart, ZZ Top It was pretty much the only thing on the radio when I was growing up okay (._.") Punk Rock/Post-Grunge Sum 41, The Offspring, The Killers, Theory of a Deadman, Trapt, Yellowcard, Shinedown, My Chemical Romance, Blink 182, Green Day, Bowling for Soup The only other thing to listen to growing up, and the one I preferred the most until now. Other Stuff that isn't getting a Category Jonny Cash, Nightcore, Gorrilaz, Uncle Kraker, Parov Stelar, Nine Inch Nails I'm not always genre biases, and as such enjoy a variety of genres as long as there is a respectable artist.
I like strong instrumentals and (more recently) the stories told through lyrics. This is why I could never get into electronica/dubstep, because it feels way too repetitive without any sort of instrumentation or lyrics. I also somewhat enjoy Japanese music, as it feels much better made than most Western music, but my inability to understand Japanese and my desire for meanings through lyrics has left me without a preferred artist to speak of.

, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus (a band from my hometown)
This is the first song I've ever heard from THe Red Jumpsuit Apparatus! Found them through this MMV too. Eh, I listen to anything and everything, really. I like Chinese songs from the 60s-90s, as well as Rock (ELVIS, The Beatles, Queen, Pink Floyd, Guns and Roses), Jazz, Indie, K-pop, J-pop, instrumentals... yeah...
