Today’s topics will regard the current guild situation, the changes to the system, and what that will mean for the future of Alstroemeria. As many of you probably noticed: Celinus and Arthitmani left the guild from one day to the other due to personal reasons that even I don’t know too much about. That followed with a wave of members leaving the guild as well which reduced our number and activity by even more. With the decrease in staff, managing the guild will prove increasingly harder as time comes.
Thus, we planned some changes within the guild and the system.
Those changes might appear as very drastic, but I do believe that they’ll help rebuild the guild and give us the family feeling back that the members left started to miss.
To ensure the survival of Alstroemeria, the following changes are going to happen:
There will be a massive removal of inactive members. Every member that has gone missing for more than 5 weeks will be discharged. Members that never talk, and only log on once a month will be removed too. The guild number will be reduced drastically down to the active core.
Not only will that make managing the guild easier, but it will also increase the feeling of activity for the members. Right now while looking at the guild list, the inactivity is like an overwhelming wave. If we accept 3 new members into the guild, there is a good chance that they drown in the inactivity, they don’t feel at ease and they’ll leave again. It has happened multiple times now.
If 4 or 5 people join a guild of 20 people though, they make up a big part of the guild and have a big chance to become a stable part of the core. Even given shyness or other problems. I’m aware that it’s a harsh treatment for inactive members, especially those that do like the guild but don’t have enough time to log on.
But every member that feels treated unfairly will have the change to talk to me and rejoin the guild, we see this as a necessary evil and hope for the best to come out of it.
As some of you may have noticed, we put the recruitment on hold during the reconstruction phase of Alstroemeria.
That also has something to do with the interview process.
As it is, it’s quite detailed and covers a lot of ground, it’s very informative and important to learn who’s joining. But due to the depth of it, interviews are very long reaching up to an hour or even the longest I had being 3 hours.
Due to the long interview, recruits not being available at all times and the shortage of staff members right now, I only get around 2 interviews done per week.
We want to ensure everyone who applies for our guild will be accepted as soon as possible. Therefore we are cutting some elements of the interview to bring it down to about 15 minutes. Questions asked and information gained being right at the core with an interview process that’s easily accessible, newer staff members will have easier times doing them too.
After all changes are in place, recruitment will continue as usual and everyone will be welcome to join again.
Now to a part that might upset some, I want to put member ranks on hold for now keeping it very simple at Member > Veteran, possibly also Elite if that’s high in demand.
The reasons for that are mainly the lack of usage of this system with the complicated nature of new members understanding it. While cutting our numbers of members, a vast and complicated system as Member Ranks will only cause complications, confusion and more work for the staff.
The member ranks are not gone, they’ll make a return as soon as Alstroemeria has become stable again. But for now, we’ll keep it very basic.
The staff will see changes in the future as well. During all of this, the Inquisitor position that Celinus and Arthitmani held will be removed until further need. The tasks that the Inquisitor had will be divided onto the Officer and Ambassador. One being the enforcement of guild rules, and the other being keeping an eye on members and ensuring harmony.
The Ambassador will also see changes, instead of just being a go to person when you have problems, the Ambassador will act as Integration Officer who ensure the optimal arrival of new members and their integration into the guild.
Our current Ambassador is Valiancy , she’s already doing her part quite well but with the increase of responsibilities, her tasks will become more difficult too.
Therefore a new face will enter the same scene as Ambassador Liaison to help Valiancy at her work! He has been an active member for a long time now and climbed the member ranks in no time. Currently standing as Elite member, he holds the best interest for the guild in mind and we all agree that he’d make a great addition to the staff.
tanino if you may?
Welcome to the staff tanino !
tanino :
Thank you! It is with great honor that I formally accept my duty as part of the staff of Alst. As many of you may have noticed, there has been a sharp decline in the guild’s activity. This has led to quite some concern, hence the changes prepared today. Hopefully with the upcoming weeks, the situation will change. I have expressed my will to assist Drakkion , and the other members of the staff with this and I hope to be a good addition to the team.
Drakkion :
Thank you very much tanino !
Next month’s meeting will harbor many results. I can’t wait to see what will happen and I can’t wait to walk this path together with you all!
I’m sure it was a lot to taken in for now but, I’ll happily answer your questions now.
If some questions come to mind, feel free to contact me on PM or Discord.
Lastly, I have a bit of information regarding the alliance with the Mabinogi Ruairi alliance.
They’ve seen our work and invited us to join their alliance. We’ve been approached very professionally and their ideals match a lot of the ideals we have for the Milletian Union as well. But after joining the server several problems occurred:
One being a lot of adult content posted at all times being freely accessible for everyone.
The other being a lot of members from Alexina that have caused us trouble in the past and have been reported to attack our members of context.
The adult content, and the danger of possible attacks do not match our ideals as a community therefore we declined the alliance with our guild.
That concludes today’s meeting. I hope everyone will have a great month! Until next time, dismissed!
