Same. For some reason, my mabinogi won't start. I updated the hackshield and run everything you mentioned as administrator but I still have nothing. >~< please help! I have this problem for a week now.
Welcome to our forum Angelheart4!
Things we need to knowTroubleshooting usually requires a bit more descriptive information on your part such as:
- Which version of Windows are you running?
- Which Antivirus are you using?
Recently AVG has been reported to not work with NexonGuard.- Which part of the starting up process does it not start at?
- Launcher won't start
- Before or After graphics card warning (if it used to show up before)
- Before or After NexonGuard logo
- After Mabinogi client screen pops up and disappears right away
Another important thing to note is if Nexon Launcher says
Product already in use when you try to relaunch it.
Mod UsersIf you are using mods, it is recommended to
disable or uninstall them as Nexon has
reaffirmed their strict policy against Mods and things of the sort and will not allow Mabinogi to launch if it detects mods.
PreliminariesThough I'm sure you're frustrated as all hell; Just to make sure we're on the same page I'm sort of assuming these options have been exhausted (and probably half of your desire and willpower, but that's ok! We'll do our best to help!):
1. Tried to Run as Administrator for the Nexon Launcher shortcut
2. Tried to Run as Administrator for C:\Nexon\Library\mabinogi\appdata\Mabinogi.exe
directly3. Updating Hackshield with HSupdate.exe & autoup.exe described in the above post
Preemptive SuggestionsHere are some suggestions so you don't have to wait on us:
1.
Add to your Antivirus application's Exceptions list the C:\Nexon folder.
(Nexon Guard likes to spy on what's running to ensure there's no cheating and it's so cheaply coded that Antivirus may pick it up as a spyware)
If you don't have Antivirus and you are running Windows 8, 8.1, or 10, you may have Windows Defender built in your OS so add to the exceptions list there!
AVG Antivirus has been reported to be incompatible with NexonGuard lately even if added to Exceptions (
source). You can try switching to
Avast (which is a rather top notch Free Antivirus software).
Be sure to uninstall AVG completely first! Because more than one Antivirus running at the same time can result in system instability.
2.
Try removing the NexonGuard files for redownload at C:\Nexon\Library\mabinogi\appdata\HShield and C:\Nexon\Library\mabinogi\appdata\BlackCipher folder as well as the NGGate.bin and NGClient.aes files and allow Mabinogi to redownload fresh copies through the launcher's
Repair Installation option found under the Gear icon.
3.
Try creating a new local user account for your computer and see if launching Mabinogi works on there (
Instructions for Windows 10). If it does, there might be something wrong with folders created on your account such as C:\Users\[your user name]\AppData\Nexon launcher (though I'm not 100% certain if that actual folder can be the problem).
4.
Try to add Mabinogi.exe & Client.exe to the Data Execution Protection (DEP) list found in Control Panel\System and Security\System > Advanced System Settings > Performance > Settings > Data Execution Protection > Turn on DEP for all programs except...
You can also try
disabling the DEP completely. Use this
only to test if DEP is the problem! If it works, you should try popping every .exe file in the Nexon folder in there (namely the Hackshield and BlackCipher stuffs)!
Regardless if disabling DEP worked or not, follow the above link to put it back on immediately as this actually protects against physical damage to your computer by malicious software!5. If all else fails, try uninstalling all Nexon stuffs with
Revo Uninstaller which will hunt down and obliterate any traces of filthy Nexon code in your compooter.. and then reinstalling everything.
Before you reinstall everything though, you might want to take the opportunity to do a bit of Spring Cleaning by following Steps 1-5
here.
I really hope this helps, please let us know more about the problem and if any of the above suggestions worked for you!
